KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia has officially expanded its international flight offerings, launching new routes from its hub in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Sri Vijaya Puram (IXZ) and Nairobi (NBO). This exciting development not only enhances connectivity for travelers but also marks a significant milestone for AirAsia as it ventures into new regions.
AirAsia X, the airline’s medium and long-haul subsidiary, operates the Nairobi route using the Airbus A330, while the journey to Sri Vijaya Puram is serviced by A320 aircraft. This strategic expansion aims to provide affordable travel options for passengers looking to explore these vibrant destinations.
AirAsia’s Nairobi Flights: Connecting Asia to Africa
On November 15, AirAsia X celebrated the arrival of its inaugural flight to Nairobi. The D7 101 flight, operated by the Airbus A330-300, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 7:41 PM, landing in Kenya’s capital at 11:00 PM local time after an 8-hour and 18-minute flight. With an impressive 90% load factor on the outbound journey, this route is already proving popular among travelers.

First International Flight to Sri Vijaya Puram
In addition to the Nairobi route, AirAsia has also commenced flights to Sri Vijaya Puram, formerly known as Port Blair. As the first airline to operate international flights to and from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, AirAsia is set to enhance connectivity for travelers in the region.
