TAP Air Portugal Expands Transatlantic Routes for Summer 2025
TAP Air Portugal is set to enhance its transatlantic travel options with the introduction of new routes for the northern summer season of 2025. Travelers can look forward to exciting non-stop flights connecting Lisbon with Los Angeles and Porto with Boston, as well as a unique service from the Azores to San Francisco. These new offerings mark a significant expansion in TAP’s transatlantic network, making it easier than ever for passengers to travel between Europe and the Americas.
New Non-Stop Flights from Lisbon to Los Angeles
The much-anticipated non-stop flights from Lisbon Airport (LIS) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will begin on May 16, 2025. Initially operating three times a week—Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—TAP will add a fourth weekly flight on Saturdays starting May 26. The outbound flight will depart Lisbon at 09:55, arriving in Los Angeles at 14:40 local time after a flight duration of approximately 12 hours and 45 minutes. Return flights from LAX will leave at 16:40, landing back in Lisbon the next day at noon.

Direct Services from Porto to Boston
In addition to the Lisbon-Los Angeles route, TAP will introduce direct flights connecting Porto (OPO) to Boston (BOS) starting May 14, 2025. These flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays through October 25, 2025. The flight will leave Porto at 18:05 and arrive in Boston at 20:30, covering a distance of 3,144 miles (5,030 km) in about seven hours and 25 minutes.

New Connections to San Francisco via Terceira Island
Starting June 3, 2025, TAP will also enhance its service between Lisbon and San Francisco (SFO) by introducing a stopover at Lajes Airport (TER) on Terceira Island in the Azores. This weekly flight will provide a unique connection for travelers from the Azores to the West Coast of the U.S., a first for the region.

Strengthening TAP’s Transatlantic Network
These new routes significantly bolster TAP Air Portugal’s transatlantic network, which already includes flights to major U.S. cities such as New York, Newark, Miami, Washington, and Chicago, alongside its existing Porto-Newark services.
