FLY91 Launches New Flights to Solapur from Mumbai and Goa
FLY91, India’s new regional airline, has launched direct flights connecting Solapur, Maharashtra, to Mumbai and Goa, enhancing air travel accessibility for tier-two and tier-three towns. Starting December 23, these routes aim to boost economic activity and tourism in Solapur, known for its textile industry and pilgrimage significance. FLY91’s network now includes nine domestic destinations, with plans to triple its fleet from two to six ATR aircraft by the end of fiscal 2025. This expansion aligns with the Union Aviation Ministry’s UDAN scheme, promoting regional connectivity and addressing the growing demand for air travel in underserved areas.
Air India Flight from Delhi to SF Diverted to LA
On December 18, 2024, Air India flight AI173, traveling from Delhi to San Francisco, was diverted to Los Angeles due to adverse weather conditions. The flight, which was delayed by nearly three hours, landed safely at LAX after maintaining cruising altitude instead of descending. The Boeing 777-200LR was grounded for about three and a half hours before continuing to San Francisco, arriving at 10:06 PM local time. Air India plans to expand its US destinations, potentially adding routes to Dallas and Los Angeles, as it enhances its fleet with new Airbus A350 aircraft. Beond Reveals Year One Results and New AOC Plans
Luxury airline Beond recently discussed its first year of operations and future expansion plans during a media conference. In its inaugural year, Beond transported around 8,000 passengers with a 55% load factor, primarily through travel agents. CEO Tero Taskila highlighted the resumption of services to Munich and optimism for increased capacity on routes like Milan to Male via Dubai. Beond aims to tap into markets such as Abu Dhabi and Jeddah and plans to grow its fleet from two to 27 aircraft by 2028. The airline contributed approximately $210 million to the Maldivian GDP in its first year.
