Boeing is laying off 150 to 180 employees at its India Engineering Technology Center in Bengaluru as part of a global workforce reduction strategy, which has seen a total decrease of about 17,000 positions worldwide. Despite these layoffs, Boeing maintains a significant presence in India with around 7,000 employees, and the country remains critical to its global operations. Dr. Brendan Nelson emphasized that the layoffs are strategic and will not disrupt customer service. While current economic challenges necessitate this downsizing, Boeing anticipates potential hiring in the future as it ramps up aircraft production, particularly for clients like Air India Group.
