Royal Air Maroc Secures Six Boeing 737 MAX 8 Planes from Avolon

Royal Air Maroc has officially partnered with Avolon, a leasing company based in Dublin, to lease six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. This collaboration marks the first of its kind between the two companies.

On October 14, 2025, Avolon announced that the inaugural two Boeing 737-8s had already entered the Royal Air Maroc fleet, with the additional four aircraft expected to be incorporated throughout 2025 and 2026.

Abdelhamid Addou, the Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, expressed that these new aircraft would enhance the airline’s competitiveness, expand its network, and ensure a travel experience that aligns with the highest international standards.

“This partnership with Avolon is a pivotal step in our 10-year ‘Growth Program’. The introduction of these six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft not only boosts our operational capacity but also aids in our transformation from a regional carrier into a global connector for Africa,” Addou elaborated.

He further noted, “These aircraft are vital for us to achieve our goal of serving 32 million passengers annually by 2037 and to establish Royal Air Maroc among the world’s leading airlines.”

Currently, Royal Air Maroc operates a fleet of 59 aircraft, offering services to 98 domestic and international destinations.

Paul Geaney, President and CCO of Avolon, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Royal Air Maroc as a new customer, emphasizing support for their ambitious growth aspirations.

“Africa is anticipated to be one of the swiftest-growing regions for aviation in the next two decades. This network expansion will foster business growth and social development. As a leading carrier in North Africa, Royal Air Maroc is positioned to play a crucial role in driving this progress, and we look forward to collaborating on future opportunities,” Geaney added.
