Qantas Restarts Flights from Melbourne to Major Indian Destination
MELBOURNE- Qantas Airways (QF) has reintroduced its seasonal non-stop service connecting Melbourne (MEL) and Delhi (DEL), effectively bridging the gap between Australia and India as Victoria approaches its peak travel season.
This route commenced today and will remain operational until March 28, 2026. It provides essential direct access for leisure, business, and student travelers amidst the growing demand from both markets. The airline will offer three weekly return flights on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Qantas Resumes Melbourne to Delhi Flights
As reported, the Melbourne–Delhi route will utilize the Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which is equipped with:
- 26 lie-flat Business Class suites
- 208 Economy seats
This aircraft prioritizes long-haul comfort, featuring in-flight entertainment, complimentary meals, and checked baggage for all travelers.
Initially launched in December 2021, this route reflects a careful response to post-pandemic travel needs. The seasonal revival comes during a time of heightened travel interest as Australia enters summer while India experiences its winter.
The flight schedule includes departures from Melbourne at 09:20, landing in Delhi at 16:45 local time. This arrangement results in over 1,300 additional seats weekly, translating to around 30,000 seats available throughout the season.

Boost to Trade and Tourism
Cam Wallace, CEO of Qantas International, mentioned that restoring non-stop flights will positively impact Victoria’s tourism sector and benefit Indian cricket enthusiasts traveling for major events in Melbourne.
This timing aligns perfectly with significant matches, including the Australia vs India T20 at the MCG on October 31, the Boxing Day Ashes Test, and several Big Bash League games.
Senator Don Farrell, Australia’s Minister for Trade and Tourism, emphasized that these direct flights fortify the ties in trade, tourism, and investment between Australia and India. More flights shall increase competition, potentially leading to lower travel costs and promoting job growth in Australia.

Expanded Connectivity Across India
In addition to direct routes, Qantas offers year-round one-stop connectivity to India via Singapore (SIN) in collaboration with IndiGo (6E).
This partnership enables travelers from Melbourne to reach major cities in India, such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai, as well as 14 other destinations within IndiGo’s domestic network.
Qantas also continues to provide non-stop flights from Sydney (SYD) to Bengaluru (BLR), significantly enhancing its presence in this rapidly growing aviation market.
All Qantas fares encompass checked luggage, meals, and entertainment, delivering a comprehensive travel experience.

Bottom Line
The resumption of Qantas’ non-stop flights between Melbourne and Delhi is a pivotal development for enhancing air travel links between Australia and India.
With more than 30,000 seats available throughout the season, this service not only promotes tourism but also augments trade ties, ultimately providing greater travel convenience for passengers.
As the demand for travel between these two nations continues to rise, Qantas’ expanded network in India positions it effectively for the busy peak season ahead. Will you be booking a trip on this newly resumed route?
