Qantas Launches New Adelaide Center for Innovative Digital Travel Solutions
Qantas has announced plans to establish a new Product Innovation Center in Adelaide, which will employ over 420 technology professionals within the next three years. This move represents a significant commitment to enhancing its digital development capabilities internally.
The center is set to open in March 2026 at the heart of Adelaide’s central business district and will serve as the core for the airline’s technology product development. This facility will bring together product managers, digital experience designers, software engineers, and data and AI specialists, all dedicated to improving customer interactions with Qantas throughout their travel experiences.

Qantas emphasizes that the new facility’s primary goal is to enhance digital services throughout the customer journey. This includes improvements in app functionality, check-in processes, and baggage tracking. Furthermore, teams will work on AI-driven tools aimed at assisting customers and frontline staff during travel disruptions.
Vanessa Hudson, Qantas Group Chief Executive Officer, stated that this center will fundamentally change how the airline delivers customer experiences.
“Innovation has been part of our identity for over a century. This Centre symbolizes a new beginning in our efforts to reshape the travel experience for millions of customers,” Hudson remarked.
“Technology and AI will play a vital role in enhancing customer experiences at every step of the journey, from booking through to in-flight service and baggage collection. This new hub will bring together the finest Australian talent to create digital products and services designed to make travel simpler and more personalized,” she added. “Adelaide offers access to world-class universities and a vibrant tech community, allowing us to enhance our in-house capabilities. This is a meaningful investment in Australian innovation that will benefit our customers.”
The airline is also collaborating with Adelaide University to establish direct pathways for graduate recruitment into the center, enabling local students to engage in aviation technology projects.
South Australian Premier, the Hon. Peter Malinauskas MP, welcomed this significant investment.
“This groundbreaking agreement with Qantas will accelerate growth in new, highly skilled tech jobs,” he commented.
He further noted, “Through strategic partnerships under this agreement, including the collaboration between Adelaide University and the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML), we are creating a robust pipeline of talent equipped with advanced AI and digital skills.”
The Adelaide center is the latest addition to a series of Qantas investments in South Australia, following the recent expansion of an airport lounge at Adelaide Airport (ADL) and the resumption of international flights between Adelaide and Auckland in November 2025.
