China Airlines Launches A350 Routes to the World’s Sunniest City

TAOYUAN- China Airlines (CI) has initiated its inaugural nonstop route connecting Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). This new service expands China Airlines’ reach across North America and indicates a growing demand for travel along this route, spurred by both business and leisure activities.

This direct flight operates three times each week, marking Phoenix’s first direct connection to Asia. It significantly enhances travel convenience for passengers who would have otherwise needed to make transfers. With this move, China Airlines positions itself as an essential service provider for transpacific travel in the American Southwest.

The launch flight, CI036, took off from Taoyuan in the afternoon on a nearly full Airbus A350-900. This momentous occasion was attended by officials from Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation, the American Institute in Taiwan, and local Phoenix dignitaries.

• Service operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing Taipei at 4:30 p.m. and reaching Phoenix by 1:35 p.m. local time.
• The return flight leaves PHX at 4 p.m., landing in Taipei the following day at 10:20 p.m.

This journey takes approximately 12 hours, significantly cutting down travel time compared to previous one-stop options. With this new route, China Airlines now serves seven destinations in North America, including Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Ontario in California, and Vancouver.
