SAS and WestJet Launch Codeshare to Connect Canada with Scandinavia
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and WestJet have entered into a new codeshare agreement, enhancing connections between Scandinavia and Canada.
In a press release dated December 10, 2025, SAS highlighted that this partnership will enable SAS passengers to transit seamlessly through Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) as well as SAS gateways in the U.S.
On the other hand, WestJet customers will find it easier to reach SAS destinations in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm.
Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, remarked, “The expanded codeshare partnership with WestJet is an important step in connecting Scandinavia even more closely with Canada. It strengthens our main base in Copenhagen and gives travelers on both sides of the Atlantic more options and a smoother overall journey.”
With this arrangement, SAS passengers can explore over 10 Canadian cities beyond Toronto, such as Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax, all covered on a single ticket that includes checked baggage.
Meanwhile, WestJet travelers will enjoy streamlined access to Scandinavia and other European destinations via SAS’s hub in Copenhagen. Furthermore, both airlines plan to introduce a new loyalty partnership.
John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, stated, “With more Canadians wanting to explore Northern Europe, we are proud to help them get there with ease, so they can focus on the destination.”
Looking ahead, the partnership is expected to expand in 2026, featuring codesharing on WestJet’s upcoming Halifax–Copenhagen route set to launch in May 2026.
WestJet indicated that this collaboration will bolster connectivity between Atlantic Canada and the Nordic region, offering enhanced flexibility and fresh travel opportunities for passengers on both sides of the ocean.
