Qantas Freight Unveils Festive A321 Freighter Design
Qantas Freight has launched its festive Airbus A321 freighter, “Santa’s Freight,” to enhance holiday deliveries, aiming to transport 50,000 tons of freight during the Christmas season. With online shopping surging, a 5% increase in freight volume is expected compared to 2023. To meet demand, Qantas will add 550 flight hours in November and December, increasing domestic capacity by 3,000 tons. The airline will handle about one million kilograms of cargo daily, including seasonal produce, seafood, meats, and essential supplies. Qantas Freight emphasizes its commitment to ensuring a joyful holiday season for families across Australia.
Air Canada Leasing Two Boeing 767 Freighters to Ethiopian Airlines
Air Canada has leased two Boeing 767-300 freighters to Ethiopian Airlines Cargo, enhancing the airline’s cargo operations. The first aircraft, C-GHXI, is being prepared for its new role, while the second, C-GXHM, has completed a successful test flight. Both freighters were stored at Kansas City International Airport after Air Canada retired them in April 2024. With this addition, Ethiopian Airlines Cargo expands its fleet to 20 dedicated freighters, bolstering its position as a leader in African air freight. Air Canada is also set to reintroduce two retired Boeing 767-300ERs into passenger service in February 2025.
Norse Atlantic Leases 3 More Boeing 787-9s to IndiGo
IndiGo Airlines has announced a lease agreement to acquire three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from Norse Atlantic Airways, aimed at enhancing its international operations and expanding its presence in Europe. Confirmed on February 26, 2025, this partnership follows a prior deal and will see the new aircraft joining IndiGo’s fleet in late 2025. The lease, initially for six months, may extend up to 18 months pending regulatory approval. IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, which aligns with the airline’s broader strategy, including a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900s, to strengthen its global position by 2030.
